There could be no greater tribute paid to Cherry Lawn, its founders, its teachers, its administrators and all the other devoted individuals associated with the school over the years than the presence here tonight of a packed-to-capacity alumni gathering. For you all are the living proof of Cherry Lawn, which permeated the school, giving it its unique character, are carried in your hearts today. The memories of Dr. Goldfrank, Dr. Staël, Dr. Boris, my husband Roger Strasser and Al Medved, who is well but was unable to join us, are honored tonight in a way they never could have imagined. My daughter told me the other day that I had become the "matriarch" of Cherry Lawn, whether or not I had chosen the role. In that role, all I can do is thank you for coming, as no brief words can adequately express how meaningful your being here is.
As you leave tonight, you will each receive a copy of a remembrance I have written as a way of helping all Cherry Lawners to keep the memories alive and to share them with family and friends. Most of all, I want Cherry Lawners to feel that Cherry Lawn will always be your school.
