CHERRY LAWN SCHOOL PHOTO OF THE MONTH: APRIL, 2000

This photo was taken during the first Cherry Lawn trip abroad during the summer of 1966.

It was towards the end of the trip when we were in Ireland, catching a ride on a turfboat, a sailboat loaded with peat to be burned for heat, to the barren but beautiful Aran Isles off the Irish coast.

Teachers, their wives and the students piled on this tiny boat and sailed to the islands for a day trip. We sat wherever we could and Mr. Zuber found a bearably comfortable seat atop a pile of peat moss with the boat's mast as his backrest.
