A Note from Phyllis Shapiro Conroy

Dear Cherry Lawn Classmates:

For so many years I have yearned to reconnect with classmates from Cherry Lawn. This year marked thirty years since graduation for me!

What an interesting and diverse lot we were! I was quite astounded by my own nostalgia, but had no particular direction to proceed with it. I attempted to locate a few select cronies to little avail, until I discovered the whereabouts of Alan Moos (CLS'67), a dear old pal, who passed your letter along.

Lo & behold, a REUNION! What a concept! Of course, you must understand, I attended CLS in the 1960s when the sentiments were anti-formal education, anti-establishment, and anti-reunion. However, I was delighted to know that someone had taken on the monumental task of organizing a reunion. I would've been there in a heartbeat had I known about it. SIGH. Perhaps the next time...??!

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Fullis Conroy (a.k.a. Phyllis Shapiro back in '67) residing for the last 27 years in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains on the beautiful Susquehanna River in northcentral Pennsylvania. I live just north of Williamsport, the Home of Little League Baseball. By profession, I am an Early Childhood, Elementary, and Art educator. However, I homeschooled my own three children for 12 years. During the past six years, I have delighted in being Host/Producer of Elephant Soup on the Air, a two-hour weekly radio program for kids and kids at heart.

Please keep me informed about future gatherings and how I may access the Cherry Lawn School Web page on the Internet. What a great idea! Thanks so much for your efforts... HOORAY FOR YOU!!

Sincerely,

Fullis Conroy
